Beskrivelse

Trees and shrubs produce fruits and berries in a magical way year after year. It all starts with delicate blossoms in the spring sun and visits from buzzing bees, and then sun, rain and nutrients make the fruits swell with sweetness, strength and juice. This beautiful process brings beauty and life to the garden, and the healthy fruits have an unsurpassed quality. The flavour and antioxidant content of fully ripe fruits are highest when eaten straight from the trees or bushes.

This book gives you inspiration and knowledge to grow your own fruits and berries in an organic, natural way. The book describes over 60 species of fruit and berry that can be grown in the garden. Some require a lot of space, while others can grow in a pot on the balcony. Success is greatest with good, robust varieties, and the book covers over 250 varieties, so there’s plenty to choose from.

It also includes solid advice on how to save a fruit garden from diseases and pests using organic methods.

The book is written by horticulturalist Maren Korsgaard, who herself is an organic fruit grower and has more than 30 years of experience as an advisor to organic fruit growers. She also has 14 years of experience in fruit research at the University of Copenhagen, where she has especially worked with the fruit and berry varieties at Pometet, our national genebank.

The fruit varieties are illustrated with the most beautiful watercolours, painted by Kirsten Tind.
